South Wigston Parent-led Playgroup

I’m becoming more confident in myself; I lacked a lot of confidence, but it’s given me my confidence back. I can’t go back to work now due to childcare, but this gives me a sense of purpose.

‐ Playgroup Volunteer

South Wigston parent-led playgroup is an amazing legacy of the Bin Dippers family project that ran in 2020 after the first lockdown. The playgroup is hugely needed and is really appreciated by the community as there had been no provision for under 5s in South Wigston since 2018.

The volunteers, made up of parents referred by the Local Area Coordinator to the project felt empowered to lead on the development and delivery of the playgroup. They are supported by Elliott Hall for Youth & Community and have joined the Early Years Action Alliance, a charity which provides information and advice and access to acclaimed training schemes.

We are very proud of these volunteers for stepping up to gift their time and skills for the benefit of families in their own community.

The group is based at Elliott Hall Community Hub in South Wigston and runs every Wednesday, 9.30am-11.15am during term time.
