Creative Expression in Libraries at Mountsorrel Library
Mountsorrel Library is delighted to be delivering Creative Expression in Libraries, a new creative project funded by the Arts Council England National Portfolio Organisation (NPO) programme.
The project will be delivered in partnership with Christ Church & St Peter’s C of E Primary School, working closely with pupils in Years 3 and 5. Together, children and a professional creative practitioner will co‑create a creative output that will enhance Mountsorrel Library as an inspiring, welcoming space for children and families.
By placing children’s creativity, ideas and voices at the heart of the project, Creative Expression in Libraries strengthens the library’s role as a cultural and community hub and encourages young people to feel a sense of ownership and connection to their local library.
Project outcomes
Creative Expression in Libraries will:
- Develop an enhanced relationship between Christ Church & St Peter’s C of E Primary School and Mountsorrel Library, supporting children’s engagement with culture, creativity and reading beyond the classroom
- Provide a meaningful creative opportunity for a professional creative practitioner, working collaboratively with children and the library
- Be the first Creative Expression in Libraries project to take place in a Community Managed Library, showcasing the creative potential of community‑led library services
