Leicestershire Shared Reading

Join a friendly group of people to share a story and a poem. Lead by Reader Leader who reads to  the group with regular pauses to reflect on and discuss the literature, working out what is going on and share thoughts. Everyone has a copy of the text so that they can follow it as it is read aloud.

Everyone is welcome and the Reader Leader encourages discussion, creating a safe space where members feel valued, encouraged and listened to.

Leicestershire Shared Reading is a voluntary organisation, set up in September 2016, to work in partnership with Leicestershire County Council’s library service to support a thriving network of ‘Make Friends, with a Book’ shared reading groups.

The groups, led by volunteer Reader Leaders, meet weekly in public libraries around the county and are open to anyone to drop in and sit for a while, listening to stories and poems being read aloud.
