In a recent Coalville Library survey 67% of respondents stated that they would be ‘a little’ or ‘much more likely’ to use the library if there were more children’s activities and toys.
Story Explorer Bags
We are creating a range of ‘Story Explorer’ bags packs that will be available for anyone to use at Coalville Library. These activity bags are developed and co-created with various groups and individuals in the local community including childminders, Children and Families groups, schools, pre-schools, and local children and young people including those in care.
What is a Story Explorer bag?
The bags will be based around a main book and will have a range of supporting materials such as extra books, toys, games, puzzles and activities that expand on the theme. They will be aimed at a range of age groups from babies right up to young adults.
Story Explorer bags are a great way to develop reading skills whilst encouraging creativity and imagination. They are being designed with the aim of increasing reading for in our local communities. Reading for pleasure has so many benefits including increased life chances for children and increased happiness in adults, something we all aspire to for ourselves and our children. These activity bags will be available in the library for anyone to use, whenever they please and with no additional charge.
