This is a great exhibition, my kids love the interactive and it's a great thing for the council to spend money on.
Interactives

The interactives were cocreated with the children on the project. Following their sensory exploration of the museum and its environment we created a marble run, based on the movement of the water, a porthole to look at photos of what the canals at Foxton used to look like, we explored textures through brass rubbings, sounds with musical instruments, the smells of the locks with a sensory trail and smell boxes and the beautiful roses and castles design seen in canal boats with our magnetic board and stamp set.
These interactives compliment the existing canal boat which children can explore and each interactive uses design elements from the children. Our artist, Jessica painted beautiful illustrations based on the children’s art, along with the Frankie Fox character she designed for the museum.
The new interactives give children and families the chance to explore more of the museum’s history, the heritage of the canals and the beautiful natural environment in a hands on and interactive way, if you know a child who likes touching and doing (and which children don’t?) these interactives are a great way for them to learn while having fun.
