Creative Feedback with Koolgigs
As part of our commitment to hear the views of as many people as possible we decided to try and innovative approach to insight gathering; creative feedback. We know many people will not engage with normal surveys, so we commissioned local company, Koolgigs to design a show that would both engage our audiences and draw out their views about what creative and cultural activity they want to see at the library and museum
The first session was held in the market hall on late night shopping night before Christmas and engaged over 70 people during the course of the evening. Next we held shows at the library and museum itself, reaching a further 100 plus people.
As part of the show Koolgigs told the story of the Symington Building that houses the museum and library, bring the history of the town to life though acting, puppets and music. They adapted some Christmas classics and created unique props. At the end of the show the audience were invited to share what creative and cultural activity they wanted on specially created ‘library cards’ and ‘roman coins’.
This unique approach to insight gathering has given people who would not have otherwise engaged a voice in the future and made them part of the conversation going forward. We are continuing to work with Koolgigs for further creative insight gathering sessions, this time focused on how we use the space for creative activity and proving that insight gathering doesn’t have to be dull!
