Leicestershire Autistic Society

Officers from the council spoke to parent-carers of children and adults with autism about their experience of the last year. Here are some of their reflections in their own words.

“Even if you say hi on social media, without those coffee catch ups it’s a bit shallower and I miss it – I miss chatting with people”

“I’m looking forward to not having to do risk assessments and infection control anymore because I found that incredibly time consuming and really difficult to manage”

“The time for me has got smaller and smaller, and I just have to do what I can when I can”

“The good thing is that I don’t have to rush around in the morning getting my son up for school”

“I always try and get out for a walk every day”

“Friends are the main people that keep me going”
