Loughborough Welcomes…. Our Community Garland Project

The Re-building Lives exhibition at Charnwood Museum commemorates the 50th anniversary of the expulsion of Asian people from Uganda in 1972 by President Idi Amin. 27,000 people arrived in the UK and, specifically, over 500 settled here in Loughborough. This project has inspired a unique response from the communities of Loughborough.

Hundreds of people are crafting a giant garland in the heart of the gallery space at Charnwood Museum and from the comfort of their own homes to express what is it about Loughborough that makes them feel welcome and how we welcome new people to Loughborough?
