Hinckley Historians Proudly Present Their New Exhibit
The Hinckley Historians are excited to present their “Famous People of Hinckley” exhibit at Hinckley Library! After months of research, hard work, and creativity, the group invites everyone to visit the library and discover the remarkable individuals who came from Hinckley.
The learners explored many notable figures and inventions associated with the town. They drew inspiration from the blue plaques displayed around Hinckley, which led them to delve deeper into the lives of these historical figures.
Ultimately, they decided to focus on four prominent individuals: Joseph Hansom, Robert Chessher, William Bass, and Myra Merrick, who became the favourite of the group and was featured in puppet form! The exhibit is located in the children’s area of Hinckley Library. The interactive puppet is a fantastic way to engage young visitors and help them learn about their local heritage!
Each group member designed and created various pieces of art representing the famous individuals. As the exhibit day approached, they made thoughtful decisions about which works to display. They agreed to curate the exhibit by including at least one piece from each learner, showcasing the teamwork and spirit of collaboration within the group.
The Hinckley Historians are part of the Adult Learning Service and are passionate about exploring their local history. Thank you to all of them for their hard work and for sharing their journey! You can visit their exhibit until the end of June 2025.
