Leicestershire Libraries Children’s Event Programme 2026
Children’s Events Programming Vision Leicestershire Library service have been working to enhance our cultural offer in libraries for children and their families. We are now looking to widen access to cultural activities and experiences to inspire children with their own creative journey and build confidence with parents to share and enjoy art and culture activities.
2026 is the National Year of Reading. We are looking for multiple Creative Practitioners to take part in two key projects:
- For the 2026 Summer Reading Challenge we aim to offer 24 Creative Practitioner-led events for children aged 4-12.
- For our Early Years Festival in November, we aim to offer 8 events for children aged 0-5 and their families.
We are looking to recruit practitioners to deliver a diverse range of activities for our summer and early years programmes. A key theme for 2026 is music and we are looking for Creative Practitioners to run events which encourage children to explore music, movement, cultural traditions and creative expression. We would like to see sessions that incorporate rhythm, melody, and narrative work to spark imagination and creativity.
