Our Leicestershire Journeys: Inspired by Bosworth

What journeys shape who we are? How do our experiences, memories and connections help us find a sense of belonging and make a place feel like home?

Our Leicestershire Journeys: Inspired by Bosworth is a community arts and heritage project forming part of Making Leicestershire My Home, a Culture Leicestershire programme celebrating the people and communities who have shaped our county, past and present.

Working with a Creative Practitioner, local people will explore themes of home, identity, belonging and roots through a series of creative workshops. People taking part will create their own pilgrim badges inspired by examples from the museum collection. Historically, pilgrim badges were collected and worn as reminders of important journeys and connections to significant places. Reimagining this tradition for today, each person will create a badge reflecting the journey that brought them to, through or within Leicestershire, and the memories, relationships and experiences that have helped make the county their home. Accompanied by personal stories, the badges will become part of a collective artwork and exhibition celebrating the diverse lives and communities that continue to shape Leicestershire.

Workshops will take place at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre and community venues in the local area. The final artwork and accompanying stories will be displayed in the gallery at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre.
