DoYouSeeWhatISee? South Wigston

I enjoyed it, I met new people and it encouraged me to get out and engage with others in a subject that has always interested me.

It has improved my confidence and encouraged me to seek out others in the local community for information.

(I enjoyed) using my latent skills and knowledge to re-engage with the world after a year of bereavement and lockdown on my own.

Do you See What I See in South Wigston? was developed to explore the heritage of South Wigston through the eyes of local people. During the pandemic many people felt isolated and lonely. This project brought people together through their shared heritage.

We started off exploring objects from Leicestershire Museum Collections and our Christmas memories, producing an online exhibition on our Christmas heritage. After a break in the project due to the third lockdown we looked at what South Wigston meant to us, culminating in the production of a physical and online exhibition.

We produced three pull up banners which were displayed in the Menphys Hub and other venues in South Wigston for the whole community to enjoy. Please click the links below to view the online exhibitions.
